Description:

This scholarship is to assist and encourage towards a career in music, students enrolled in a programme of study at Te Kura Puoro | School of Music at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha University of Canterbury.

Value/Benefits: Financial assistance at a value of $10,000

Level of Study: Any. Preference is given to students for an MusB(Hons), BA(Hons) in Music, MMus, MA in Music, DMA, or PhD in Music.

Closing Date: 11:59 pm (NZT) 1 November (Applications open approximately 8 weeks before this date)

Tenure: One year

Number Available Annually: One

Applicable Enrolment During Tenure: Full-time enrolment in a degree programme with a major in Music.

Citizenship/Residency Requirements: Applicants must be citizens of Aotearoa New Zealand or holders of Aotearoa New Zealand residence class visas.

Additional Information:

The Farina Thompson Charitable Trust established the scholarship in 2006. The Trust was set up in 1977 with a substantial donation from Farina Thompson and additional gifts from her family. Perpetual Guardian is the trustee of the trust and administers the trust from its Ōtautahi Christchurch branch office.
