Description:

The purpose of this scholarship is to recognise and support top scholars entering their first year of the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (BE(Hons)) degree programme at the University of Canterbury.

Value/Benefits:
a. Financial assistance with the costs associated with university study, at a value of $5,000 per annum for up to two years

Level of Study: School Leaver (First year undergraduate)

Closing Date: 11:59 pm (NZT) 15 August (Applications open approximately 8 weeks before this date)

Tenure: Up to two years

Number Available Annually: Up to ten

Applicable Enrolment During Tenure: Full-time enrolment in the first two years of a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (BE(Hons)) degree programme at the University of Canterbury

Citizenship/Residency Requirements: Not applicable

Special Requirements: Must have completed, or be completing, a university entrance qualification and have studied at secondary level in New Zealand in the year of application (or, in the case of a gap year, in the year immediately prior). International students who meet these requirements are eligible to apply

Special Eligibility Requirements:

Selection will be based on:

academic achievement, as indicated by quality of achievement at NCEAL Levels 2 and 3, or equivalent university entrance qualification;
demonstrated commitment to, and interest in, Engineering;
cultural or sporting participation, or community service; and
general character.

Miscellaneous:

UC Engineering High Achievers Award and the UC Engineering Top Scholars Award were replaced in April 2021 with the UC Top Achievers Scholarship
