Applicants must:
have been born in New Zealand; and
by the closing date for applications, applicants will be enrolled at the University of Canterbury in the final year of study in a programme for a Bachelor's degree or a Bachelor's degree with Honours that includes at least one course in agricultural engineering.

A student may also receive the scholarship notwithstanding that,
for the time being
, he/she may be engaged in the study of, or research in, agricultural engineering at another university or agricultural institution, whether extra-murally or intra-murally.
