This scholarship supports supports master’s students at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury who will be engaged in research related to the energy needs of Aotearoa New Zealand.

Applicable Enrolment During Tenure:
The scholarship is tenable by full-time students engaged in the first year of a programme for a research master’s degree at the University. The proposed project must be relevant to the energy needs of Aotearoa New Zealand
Citizenship/Residency Requirements:
Applicants must be citizens of Aotearoa New Zealand or holders of Aotearoa New Zealand residence class visas.

Application Information:
Applicants for the Energy Education Trust of New Zealand Master’s Scholarship – University of Canterbury are also in competition with applicants for similar scholarships at Te Herenga Waka | Victoria University Wellington, Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa | Massey University, Te Whare Wānanga o Otago | University of Otago, Te Whare Wānanga o Tāmaki Makaurau | The University of Auckland, and Te Whare Wānanga o Waikato | The University of Waikato.
Applicants may be required to attend an interview.
The Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury representatives initially recommend a ranked list of interview candidates to the representatives of the Energy Education Trust of New Zealand, who determine the final interview selection after taking into account University recommendations. The selection committee determines the scholarship recommendation or recommendations, following the interviews by the Education Trust representatives.
Special Eligibility Requirements:
Must be enrolled in the first year of a programme for a research Master's degree at the University of Canterbury. The proposed project associated with the programme must be relevant to the energy needs of Aotearoa New Zealand.
A Master's by coursework only is not eligible.
Selection will be based on:
academic achievement;
the quality of the proposed research project, and its degree of relevance to the energy needs of Aotearoa New Zealand;
demonstrated interest in, or job/project experience in, energy issues and how this interest or experience is related to the applicant's study and career plan; and
interview performance
Motivation to succeed and community involvement may also be considered.

established the scholarship in 2021.
