The purpose of this fund will be to support research in astronomy at the University of Canterbury or research in astronomy by the staff and students of the University, especially that research which is carried out principally at Mount John University Observatory.

Additional Information:

The following purposes are envisaged as eligible for support by the fund:
  1. grants for items of research equipment for use at Mount John University Observatory or to supplement other grants for such equipment;
  2. grants for the purpose of providing travel and approved living expenses of Canterbury astronomers for travel for any astronomical purpose, such as to obtain observational data, to collaborate with colleagues or to attend conferences;
  3. grants for the purpose of providing travel and living expenses to astronomers from other institutions to come to Canterbury for research contacts of any type with Canterbury astronomers;
  4. grants for any other purpose that will benefit astronomy at the University of Canterbury.
