UC Engineering International Scholarship (NZ Incoming First-Year Scholarship)

Brief Description:
The information below is for international students who are currently studying at a secondary school in Aotearoa New Zealand. If you are studying offshore or at UCIC, please refer to the listings for the October and/or March application rounds.
This scholarship recognises top international scholars and supports them in study towards an undergraduate Engineering degree at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury in Ōtautahi Christchurch, Aotearoa New Zealand.
Value/Benefits:
Financial assistance with tuition fees at a value of $15,000

Incoming First-Year Undergraduate

11:59 pm (NZT) 15 August (Applications open approximately 8 weeks before this date)
Tenure:
One year
Number Available Annually:
35 (across three application rounds)
Applicable Enrolment During Tenure:
The scholarship is tenable during full-time enrolment in a first year of a programme for a BE(Hons) degree (please see "Special Requirements" below for restrictions)
Citizenship/Residency Requirements:
Recipients must be full-fee-paying international students. Applicants may NOT be:
a. citizens of Aotearoa New Zealand or Australia;
b. permanent residents of Australia; or
c. holders of Aotearoa New Zealand residence class visas.
Special Requirements:
Applicants cannot be current or former students in a programme for a BE(Hons) degree at the University

Application Information:
Please note, there are 3 rounds for the UC College of Engineering International Scholarship:
1 March (for those who will be first enrolling for the following Semester 2, or for Summer School)
15 August (for those who are studying in New Zealand at that date)
31 October (for those who are studying overseas at that date)
Applications open approximately 8 weeks before the advertised close date.
Selection will be based on:
academic achievement;
demonstrated commitment to, and interest in, Engineering;
cultural, and/or sporting participation, and/or community service;
general character; and
strategic goals of the University.
Special Eligibility Requirements:
By the closing date for their application, an applicant must have applied to the University for admission to the (BE(Hons) degree programme.
Applicants cannot be current or former students in a programme for a BE(Hons) degree at the University.
Additional Information:
Te Kaupeka Pūhanga | Faculty of Engineering established the scholarship in 2022 to replace the UC College of Engineering International Scholarship.
