Brief Description:

This scholarship recognises and supports highly-ranked students in a programme for a research doctoral degree in Te Kaupeka Pūtaiao | Faculty of Science at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury. It is offered to the highest-ranked eligible candidate amongst those considered in that year for the other UC Core Doctoral Scholarships without having subsequently been offered one of those scholarships. No separate application is required.

Value/Benefits:
a. Financial assistance at a value of $30,000 per 120 points of thesis enrolment.

Level of Study: Doctoral

Closing Date: In the year's available, the recipient is considered from the pool of eligible applicants who applied for the other UC Core Doctoral Scholarships without having subsequently been offered one of those scholarships. No separate application required.

Tenure: The scholarship is tenable for the period necessary to complete up to 360 points of enrolment.

Number Available Annually: One scholarship is available annually.

Applicable Enrolment During Tenure: The scholarship is tenable by full-time and part-time students engaged in study for a research doctoral degree in Te Kaupeka Pūtaiao | Faculty of Science at the University.

Citizenship/Residency Requirements: Not applicable

The scholarship was established in 1979 from a bequest of Edward William Roper (d. 4 October 1920).
