Award Amount
$3,000, $5,000, $7,500 or $10,000 per annum

Description:

The scholarship is to support postgraduate students in Art History, Art Theory, or Fine Arts at the University of Canterbury.

Value/Benefits:
Financial assistance with the costs associated with university study, to a value of:
a. PhD students: Up to $30,000 ($10,000 per annum)
b. MFA students: $7,500
c. BFA(Hons) and MA (Part II) students: $5,000
d. BA(Hons) and MA (Part I) students: $3,000

Level of Study: Honours, Master's, Doctoral

Closing Date: 11:59 pm (NZT) 1 November (Applications open approximately 8 weeks before this date)

Tenure: 1-3 years, depending on the category. Please refer to the regulations for further details

Number Available Annually: Approximately seven

Applicable Enrolment During Tenure: Applicants must be enrolled, or intending to enrol, at the University of Canterbury in a programme for one of the following degrees:
a. Bachelor of Arts with Honours (BA(Hons)) in Art History, Art Theory, or Fine Arts
b. Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours (BFA(Hons))
c. Master of Arts (MA) in Art History, Art Theory, or Fine Arts
d. Master of Fine Arts (MFA)
e. Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Art History, Art Theory, or Fine Arts

Applications from previous recipients are considered and are given equal consideration with applications from those who have not held the scholarship before.


Special Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants must be enrolled, or intending to enrol, at the University of Canterbury in a programme for one of the following degrees:
  1. Bachelor of Arts with Honours (BA(Hons)) in Art History, Art Theory, or Fine Arts
  2. Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours (BFA(Hons))
  3. Master of Arts (MA) in Art History, Art Theory, or Fine Arts
  4. Master of Fine Arts (MFA)
  5. Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Art History, Art Theory, or Fine Arts



Additional Information:

The scholarship in the PhD category is only available if no PhD student currently holds the scholarship (this can be held for up to 3 years/ 360 points of enrolment).

Recipients of the scholarship who are studying for a PhD must be enrolled full-time. Other recipients may be studying full-time or part-time.
