Description:

The purpose of this scholarship is to reward the academic achievement of full-time students about to enter the final year of a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in the School of Fine Arts at the University of Canterbury.

Value/Benefits: Tuition fees at the domestic rate, for one year

Level of Study: Undergraduate

Closing Date: 11:59 pm (NZT) 31 October (Applications open approximately 8 weeks before this date)

Tenure: One year

Number Available Annually: Varies

Applicable Enrolment During Tenure: Must be enrolled full-time in the final year for a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in the School of Fine Arts at the University of Canterbury

Citizenship/Residency Requirements: Not applicable

Application Information:

Each applicant should submit, in writing, a short statement outlining his or her projected studio work for the year in which the scholarship is to be held, and indicating his or her reasons for doing that work.


Special Eligibility Requirements:

In the event of two or more applicants being of equal or similar academic merit, preference will be given to a student whose family is located in the West Coast region of the South Island of New Zealand.


Additional Information:

These scholarships were established by the estate of Peter Lanini in memory of Grant Lingard (1961-1995), a graduate of the School of Fine Arts:-

"...Lingard will be remembered for his wit, zen style and meticulous economy of imagery, which gave the viewer lingering images of beauty and veiled reminders of darker subjects."
