Brief Description:

This scholarship is dedicated to supporting currently enrolled students at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury who wish to engage in immersive academic and cultural experiences in Taiwan. The purpose of the scholarship is to:

• Encourage students to deepen their understanding of Taiwanese society, language, and culture through meaningful, on-the-ground experiences.

• Provide financial support to ensure that capable and committed students are not held back from life-changing opportunities due to financial constraints.

• Build a community of recipients who will embody Jessie’s values of intellectual curiosity, cross-cultural engagement, and academic excellence.

Value/Benefits: Up to $2,000.

Level of Study: Undergraduate; Postgraduate

Closing Date: 31 March. If the available funds have not been fully utilised in the 31 March round, an additional round closing on 31 October may also be offered.

Tenure: One year.

Number Available Annually: At least one.

Applicable Enrolment During Tenure: Full- or part-time enrolment in any undergraduate or postgraduate programme at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury.

Citizenship/Residency Requirements: Applicants must be citizens of Aotearoa New Zealand.

Applicants must be able and intending to travel to Taiwan to support their academic studies.
