Additional Information:
The fund for the grant was established in 2018 by friends and family to celebrate the life of Penelope Gayle Wilson, who passed away in May 2017. Penny, an Art History master’s graduate of Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury, undertook her museum internship in London, UK. Combined with postgraduate training in museum studies in London, this led to paid employment in public galleries and museums in London, Edinburgh, Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, and Melbourne. Friends and family recognised the sacrifices that Penny made to pursue her professional interests and the high level of commitment required to commence a rewarding career in major arts institutions, and they wished to provide financial support for future students in her memory.
