UC Engineering Pacific Scholarship (Incoming First-Year Scholarship)

Brief Description:

This scholarship recognises and supports high-achieving Pacific students entering their first year of a BE(Hons) degree programme at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury.

Value/Benefits:
a. Financial assistance at one of the following three values:
  1. $5,000 (Category A)
  2. $3,000 (Category B)
  3. $1,000 (Category C)
Level of Study: School Leaver (First year undergraduate)

Closing Date: 11:59 pm (NZT) 15 August Applications open approximately 8 weeks before this date.)

Tenure: Up to 120 points of enrolment

Number Available Annually: At least three

Applicable Enrolment During Tenure: The scholarship is tenable during full-time or part-time enrolment in a recipient’s first year of a programme for a BE(Hons) degree at the University.

Citizenship/Residency Requirements: Not applicable

Special Requirements: Must be Pacific, and must not have been enrolled in a degree programme at any tertiary institute

Application Information:

Selection will be based on:
  1. demonstrated leadership in the Pacific community;
  2. academic achievement, as indicated by quality of achievement at NCEA Level 2, or equivalent university entrance qualification;
  3. demonstrated commitment to, or interest in, the BE(Hons) degree programme; and
  4. strategic objectives of the University.


Special Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants must:
  • be Pacific;
  • NOT have been enrolled in a degree programme at any tertiary institute.*
*Participation in STAR courses, community education courses offered by tertiary institutions, orientation or general interest programmes run by tertiary institutions for secondary school students does not preclude eligibility for this award.
