Brief Description:

The UC Incoming First-Year Undergraduate Scholarships application round is for new-to-UC students who will be beginning their first year of study towards an undergraduate degree at the University of Canterbury in 2025. Applications open 20 June and close 15 August.

The links in the list below will take you to the individual regulations for each scholarship, so you can find out more about the scholarship benefits, as well as eligibility criteria. You can also search each scholarship individually using the scholarship search engine keyword search for a brief summary of the scholarship. If a scholarship is not in the list below, then it is not being offered in this application round.

While many of the available scholarships are targeted towards those who are currently completing University Entrance at a secondary school in Aotearoa New Zealand (or those on a gap year after completing UE), there are are a number of scholarships available which allow applicants who completed UE in previous years to still be eligible for consideration, so long as the applicant hasn't been enrolled in a degree programme at any tertiary institute. Please refer to the individual scholarship listing (you can use a keyword search in the UC scholarships database) or the regulations governing the scholarship, for detailed information regarding eligibility criteria.

A number of scholarships are suitable for international applicants who are studying/have studied at a secondary school in Aotearoa New Zealand. Please refer to the individual scholarship listing, or the regulations governing the scholarship for more detailed information.

Please note that results for our Incoming First-Year Undergraduate Scholarships will be released in early October. Successful applicants will receive individual email notifications for the scholarship/s they have been selected for, but will not receive individual notifications for any scholarships where they were not selected as a first-choice recipient. Applicants who are not selected as a first-choice recipient for any of the scholarships they applied for will receive a single notification advising that their application for the scholarships has been unsuccessful.

Where reserves are nominated by the selection committee, the Scholarships Office will send notification emails as scholarships become available. Even if you have previously received an "unsuccessful" notification, you may still be selected as a reserve candidate by the selection committee, so please keep an eye on your emails.
