Additional Information:

The award was founded by Arthur Sims (1877–1969) and Agnes Marian (Nancy) Sims (née Todd) in 1945. Sir Arthur was a student of Canterbury College who graduated with an MA in Chemistry with first class honours and received an honorary LLD through Canterbury University College in 1955. He was a prominent industrialist and cricketer. Both Sir Arthur and Lady Sims are remembered for their philanthropy. In 1993 the estate of Sir Arthur and Lady Sims’s daughter, Mrs Nancy Margaret Graeme Black (1919−1989), contributed to the scholarship’s fund.
