Brief Description:
This scholarship recognises the value of ākonga Māori (Māori students) in Te Kaupeka Oranga | Faculty of Health at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury and aims to support those who are entering tertiary study for the first time.

Applicable Enrolment During Tenure:
The scholarship is tenable during full-time enrolment, in both Semester One and Semester Two, in a first year of an undergraduate degree programme in Te Kaupeka Oranga | Faculty of Health.
Citizenship/Residency Requirements:
Must be a citizen of Aotearoa New Zealand or hold an Aotearoa New Zealand residence class visa
Special Requirements:
Applicants must have whakapapa Māori

Application Information:
Applicants may be required to attend an interview.
Selection will be based on:
goals in relation to study, career aspirations, and how the scholarship would assist with these;
participation, contribution, and/or leadership with regard to Māori development within the applicant's whānau, hapū, iwi, and/or community; and
academic achievement.
Special Eligibility Requirements:
Applicants must:
have whakapapa Māori;
have studied at secondary level in Aotearoa New Zealand, or oversea at Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu
NOT have been enrolled in a degree programme at any tertiary institute.*
*Participation in STAR courses, community education courses offered by tertiary institutions, orientation or general interest programmes run by tertiary institutions for secondary school students does not preclude eligibility for this award.
Additional Information:
Te Kaupeka Oranga | Faculty of Health established the scholarship in 2022 to partly replace the UC College of Education, Health, and Human Development Māori Scholarship.
