Brief Description:

The purpose of this scholarship is to support University of Canterbury students who are participating in the UC Global Exchange Programme at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington, USA.

Value/Benefits: Financial assistance with the costs associated with university study, at a value of $5,000

Level of Study: Any level

Closing Date: 11:59 pm (NZT) 15 October (Applications open approximately 8 weeks before this date)

Tenure: One semester or one year for University of Canterbury (two or three University of Washington quarters)

Number Available Annually: One

Applicable Enrolment During Tenure: Must be enrolled full-time as an approved participant in the UC Global Exchange Programme at the University of Washington

Citizenship/Residency Requirements: Must be a citizen of New Zealand, or hold a New Zealand residence class visa

Special Eligibility Requirements:

Must be an approved participant in the UC Global Exchange Programme and currently enrolled full-time at the University of Canterbury.

Selection will be based on:
  1. academic achievement.
In selecting between candidates of equal merit, preference may be given on the basis of duration of any period of primary and/or secondary education undertaken in Ōtautahi Christchurch.

Additional Information:

The Christchurch Committee of the Christchurch-Seattle Sister City organisation established this scholarship in 2020 in recognition of the ongoing relationship between Ōtautahi Christchurch and Seattle.
