Brief Description:

The purpose of the scholarship is to assist students proceeding to the Professional Years of the BE(Hons) degree.

Value/Benefits: The scholarship provides financial assistance at a value determined by funds available and the circumstances of the recipient, and will be stated in the offer of the award.

Level of Study: Undergraduate / Honours

Closing Date: Advised when funds available. Application is via Student Care 

Tenure: One year

Number Available Annually: Two

Applicable Enrolment During Tenure: Full-time enrolment in Year Two, Three or Four of a programme for a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours (BE(Hons)) degree at the University of Canterbury

Citizenship/Residency Requirements: Not applicable

Application Information:

Applications must be made through a written request and recommendation of a Student Care Advisor (or equivalent role in the Student Care Team) at the University of Canterbury. The Advisor will prepare the request after identifying a valid case when meeting with an eligible student.


The Student Care Manager and the Scholarships Team Leader will agree a simple but fair and robust process to be followed. The process will be reviewed from time to time to ensure it works as intended.

Additional Information:

The funds for these scholarships are provided from the income of an endowment under the will of the late Mrs Margaret Agnes McCully in memory of her husband, Charles S. McCully, a past student of the School of Engineering. The purpose of the scholarships is to assist students proceeding to the B.E.(Hons) degree.
