Maori

The scholarship recognises academic and extracurricular achievement of students who have completed a first year of study towards an LLB at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury, and supports study in such a programme at the University for a second year.

Value/Benefits: $5,000

Level of Study during Tenure: Undergraduate

Closing Date: 11:59 pm (NZT) 31 March (Applications open approximately 8 weeks before this date.)

Tenure: One year

Number Available Annually: Two, of which one is reserved for a student with whakapapa Māori, and one is reserved for a Pacific/Pasifika student.

Applicable Enrolment During Tenure: Full-time enrolment in the second year of a programme for an LLB in courses totalling a. 90 points at LAWS 200 level if enrolled for a double degree, or b.120 points at LAWS 200 level if enrolled for an LLB only.

Citizenship/Residency Requirements: Applicants must be Aotearoa New Zealand citizens or holders of Aotearoa New Zealand residence class visas.

Additional Information:

Te Kaupeka Ture | Faculty of Law established the scholarship in 2022. It partly replaces the UC College of Business and Law Second Year Award for Excellence.
