This scholarship will not be offered for study in 2026

This scholarship recognises and supports high achievers amongst ākonga Māori (Māori students) entering their first year of a BE(Hons) degree programme at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury.

a. Financial assistance at one of the following three values:
  1. $5,000 (Category A)
  2. $3,000 (Category B)
  3. $1,000 (Category C)
Level of Study: Incoming First-Year Undergraduate

Closing Date: 11:59 pm (NZT) 7 August (Applications open approximately 8 weeks before this date.)

Tenure: Up to 120 points of enrolment

Number Available Annually: At least three

Applicable Enrolment During Tenure: The scholarship is tenable during full-time or part-time enrolment in a recipient’s first year of a programme for a BE(Hons) degree at the University.

Citizenship/Residency Requirements: Not applicable

Special Requirements: Applicants must have whakapapa Māori, and must not have been enrolled in a degree programme at any tertiary institute
