UC Doctoral Scholarship
Award Amount
$32,650 pa + tuition fees at domestic rate

Brief Description:

This scholarship supports students for study towards a research doctoral degree at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury.

Value/Benefits:
The scholarship provides financial assistance at a value determined by funds available and stated in the offer. This typically may include a stipend and/or tuition fees for thesis enrolment only at the Aotearoa New Zealand domestic rate. 

Level of Study: Doctoral

Closing Date: Two application rounds each year:
  1. October - for students planning to start in 2027 before 1st July 2027; opens 20 August 2026, closes 15 October 2026.
  2. May - for students planning to start after 1st July 2027 and before 1st January 2028; opens 20 March, closes 15 May.

Tenure: Up to 360 points of enrolment

Number Available Annually: Determined annually

Applicable Enrolment During Tenure: The scholarships are tenable by students engaged in study for a research doctoral degree. 

Citizenship/Residency Requirements: There are no citizenship or residency requirements for this scholarship.

Applicants must have submitted an application for admission in a research doctoral degree programme at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury before the closing date for scholarship applications.
