This scholarship recognises and supports high-achieving students who are entering their first year of a BSc degree programme and majoring in Computer Science at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury.

Value/Benefits: Financial assistance at a value of $2,000

Level of Study: Incoming First-Year Undergraduate

Closing Date: 11:59 pm (NZT) 15 August (Applications open approximately 8 weeks before this date.)

Tenure: One year

Number Available Annually: Six, one of which is reserved for a student with whakapapa Māori and one of which is reserved for a Pacific student

Applicable Enrolment During Tenure: The scholarship is tenable during full-time enrolment in a first year of study in a programme for a BSc degree in Computer Science that includes:
  • COSC 121 or COSC 131; and
  • COSC 122.
Recipients who gain direct entry into Year 2 of the degree programme are exempt from enrolling in the courses specified

Citizenship/Residency Requirements: Not applicable

Special Requirements: Applicants must not have been enrolled in a degree programme at any tertiary institute. International students who meet this requirement are eligible to apply

  1. demonstrated commitment to, or interest in, the intended degree programme;
  2. academic achievement; and
  3. strategic objectives of the University.


Special Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants must not have been enrolled in a degree programme at any tertiary institute. International students who meet this criteria are eligible to apply.*

*Participation in STAR courses, community education courses offered by tertiary institutions, orientation or general interest programmes run by tertiary institutions for secondary school students does not preclude eligibility for this award.
