Wynn Williams Law Scholarship for Ākonga Māori
Award Amount
$5,000 per annum, for up to three years; One, two, or three offers of paid summer clerkships at Wynn Williams; Mentorship from a representative of Wynn Williams.

Brief Description:

This scholarship will not be offered for study in 2025



The scholarship provides support for ākonga Māori (Māori students) to achieve academically in a programme for an LLB or LLB(Hons) degree at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha University of Canterbury.

Value/Benefits:
a. $5,000 per annum.
b. One, two, or three offers of paid summer clerkships at Wynn Williams.
c. Mentorship from a representative of Wynn Williams.

Level of Study during Tenure: Undergraduate

Closing Date: 11:59 pm (NZT) 31 March (Applications open approximately 8 weeks before this date.) - NOT OFFERED IN 2024

Tenure:
The period necessary for the recipient to complete a programme for an LLB or LLB(Hons) degree (one, two, or three years).

Number Available Annually: There can only be one recipient at a time. Currently the scholarship is next likely to be offered in 2026.

Applicable Enrolment During Tenure: Full-time enrolment in a programme for an LLB or LLB(Hons) degree.

Citizenship/Residency Requirements: Not applicable

Special Requirements: Applicants must have whakapapa Māori.

Wynn Williams established the scholarship in 2022 to provide support to academically talented ākonga Māori who demonstrate significant leadership potential, along with commitment to the field of law. Wynn Williams is a full-service, national law firm across offices in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, Ōtautahi Christchurch, and Tahuna Queenstown, Aotearoa New Zealand.
