Brief Description:
The purpose of this scholarship is to recognise and support high achievers of Māori heritage entering their first year of a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (BE(Hons)) degree programme at the University of Canterbury.

Applicable Enrolment During Tenure:
The scholarship is tenable during full-time enrolment in a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (BE(Hons)) degree programme at the University of Canterbury
Citizenship/Residency Requirements:
Not applicable
Special Requirements:
Applicants must be of Māori heritage and be completing/have completed a university entrance qualification at secondary level in New Zealand in the year of application (or, in the case of a gap year, in the year immediately prior)

Application Information:
Selection will be based on:
demonstrated leadership potential in the Māori community;
academic achievement, as indicated by quality of achievement at NCEA Level 2, or equivalent university entrance qualification;
demonstrated commitment to, or interest in, the BE(Hons) degree programme; and
strategic objectives of the University.
Special Eligibility Requirements:
Applicants must:
have whakapapa Māori.
NOT have been enrolled in a degree programme at any tertiary institute.*
*Participation in STAR courses, community education courses offered by tertiary institutions, orientation or general interest programmes run by tertiary institutions for secondary school students does not preclude eligibility for this award.
