Description:
The purpose of this scholarship is to recognise and support high-achieving students at the University of Canterbury who are entering their first year of a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree programme and majoring in Data Science, Financial Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics.
Value/Benefits:
a. Financial assistance with the costs associated with university study, at a value of $2,000

11:59 pm (NZT) 15 August (Applications open approximately 8 weeks before this date)
Tenure:
One year
Number Available Annually:
Five, one of which is reserved for a Māori or Pasifika student
Applicable Enrolment During Tenure:
Must be enrolled full-time in a programme for a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree at the University of Canterbury with:
a major in Data Science and an enrolment in MATH 102 and STAT 101; or
a major in Financial Engineering and an enrolment in MATH 103 and STAT 101; or
a major in Mathematics and an enrolment in MATH 103; or
a major in Statistics and an enrolment in STAT 101
Recipients who have completed MATH 199 are exempt from enrolling in MATH 102 or MATH 103
Special Requirements:
Must have completed, or be completing, a university entrance qualification and have studied at secondary level in New Zealand in the year of application (or, in the case of a gap year, in the year immediately prior), either (1) in New Zealand, or (2) overseas at Te Aho o Te Kura. International students who meet these requirements are eligible to apply
