This scholarship recognises and supports high-achieving students at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury who are entering their first year of a programme for a BA, BDataSci, or BSc degree and majoring in Data Science, Financial Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics.

Tenure:
One year
Number Available Annually:
Six, one of which is reserved for a student with whakapapa Māori, and one of which is reserved for a Pacific/Pasifika student.
Applicable Enrolment During Tenure:
The scholarship is tenable during full-time enrolment in a programme for a BA, BDataSci, or BSc with:
a major in Data Science and an enrolment in (a) MATH 102, and (b) STAT 101 or DATA 101; or
a major in Financial Engineering and an enrolment in MATH 103 and STAT 101; or
a major in Mathematics and an enrolment in MATH 103; or
a major in Statistics and an enrolment in STAT 101.
Recipients who have completed MATH 199 are exempt from enrolling in MATH 102 or MATH 103.
Special Requirements:
Applicants must not have been enrolled in a degree programme at any tertiary institute. International students who meet this requirement are eligible to apply.

*Participation in STAR courses, community education courses offered by tertiary institutions, orientation or general interest programmes run by tertiary institutions for secondary school students does not preclude eligibility for this award.

demonstrated commitment to, or interest in, the intended degree programme;
academic achievement; and
strategic objectives of the University.
Additional Information:
The scholarship must be taken up in the year following the year of application.
