$2,250 per annum

Description:

These scholarships are offered to students enrolled in undergraduate Greek and Latin courses at the University of Canterbury.

Value/Benefits:
a. Financial assistance with the costs associated with university study, to a value of $2,250

Level of Study: Undergraduate

Closing Date: 5:00 pm (NZT)1 October 2019 (Applications open 8 weeks before the closing date)

Tenure: One year

Number Available Annually: Two

Applicable Enrolment During Tenure: The holder of the scholarship shall pursue a course of study which meets the approval of the Academic Board

Citizenship/Residency Requirements: Not applicable

Application Information:

Candidates for the scholarship shall be assessed for linguistic ability in their end-of-year examinations and shall submit an essay within three weeks after the examinations. Candidates may offer either Latin or Greek, or both; but a general knowledge of both Greek and Roman history and literature will be required.


Special Eligibility Requirements:

Open to students in undergraduate Greek and Latin courses. The scholarships shall be open to any matriculated and undergraduate student at the University of Canterbury; under special conditions however, at the discretion of the Academic Board, a scholarship may be awarded to a graduate.
