William and Ina Cartwright Scholarship

$5,000 per 120 points of thesis enrolment

Brief Description:

This scholarship supports study towards a research doctoral degree in Education at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury. Top-ranked candidates who have been selected for a 'UC Core Doctoral Scholarship' and who are studying the discipline of Education are automatically considered for the William and Ina Cartwright Scholarship; no application is required. It is offered to the highest-ranked eligible candidate who has not been offered another UC Prestige Doctoral Scholarship

a. Financial assistance at a value of $5,000 per 120 points of enrolment.

Tenure: The scholarship is tenable for the period necessary to complete up to 360 points of enrolment.

Number Available Annually: At least one

Applicable Enrolment During Tenure: The scholarship is tenable by students engaged in study for a research doctoral degree in the discipline of Education.

Citizenship/Residency Requirements: Not applicable

Additional Information:

The scholarship was established in 1982 from funds provided by the income from a bequest made by Christina Nairn Cartwright (d. 12 April 1981). In 2015 the scholarship was restructured to allow the bequest to supplement a University of Canterbury Doctoral Scholarship under the name of this award.
