UC Matariki Doctoral Scholarship

$32,000 per annum + domestic tuition fees

Brief Description:

This scholarship supports ākonga Māori for study towards a research doctoral degree at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury. Applications are made on the 'UC Doctoral Scholarship' form. All eligible applicants who have applied for a UC Doctoral Scholarship are also automatically considered for the UC Matariki Doctoral Scholarship.

The scholarship provides financial assistance at a value determined by funds available and stated in the offer. This typically may include a stipend and/or tuition fee payments.

Level of Study: Doctoral

Closing Date: Specific dates TBC. The next round will be in October 2025 for students commencing doctoral studies in 2026. Applications are made on the 'UC Doctoral Scholarship' form (no separate application required).

Tenure: The scholarship is tenable for the period necessary to complete up to 360 points of enrolment.

Number Available Annually: Determined annually.

Applicable Enrolment During Tenure: The scholarship is tenable by full-time and part-time students engaged in study for a research doctoral degree at the University.

Citizenship/Residency Requirements: Candidates must have whakapapa Māori.
