Brief Description:

This scholarship supports students of high academic achievement who have a significant disability, for study towards a research doctoral degree at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury. Applications must be made on the 'UC Doctoral Scholarships' form.

Value/Benefits:
The scholarship provides financial assistance at a value determined by funds available and stated in the offer of the award. This typically may include a stipend and/or tuition fee payments.

Level of Study: Doctoral

Closing Date: Specific dates TBC. The next round will be in October 2025 for students commencing doctoral studies in 2026.

Tenure: Up to 480 points of enrolment

Number Available Annually: Determined annually

Applicable Enrolment During Tenure: The scholarship is tenable by students engaged in study for a research doctoral degree.

Citizenship/Residency Requirements: There are no citizenship or residency requirements for this scholarship

Special Requirements: Applicants must have a disability that significantly impairs ability to study.

Selection is based equally on the following:
(a) the degree of severity of the disability and the extent to which it impairs the applicant's ability to carry out his or her course of study; and
(b) (1) Research capability of the candidate; (2) Project quality; (3) Project fit with institutional strategic priorities; and (4) Recommendation of the Department/School (or delegate).
